Thailand
December 2013

This was an excellent four-centred trip to the forests of Thailand, a destination we had put off for perhaps too long. We visited Kaeng Krachen and Khao Yai National Parks in the south, and Doi Inthanon and Chiang Dao in the vicinity of Chiang Mai in the north.

As well as numerous wonderful tropical forest species, including broadbills, hornbills, gamebirds (including Siamese Fireback) and many more, we enjoyed our first gibbons, as well as a plethora of Palearctic migrants. One field near Chiang Dao was absolutely stuffed with what would be dream birds in a British autumn, and we scored with Siberian Blue Robin at Kaeng Krachen too.

With superb food, good weather and a wide diversity of habitats, this was a really enjoyable and relaxing self-drive winter break.
